CYRUS JIRONGO: The NEED and URGENCY for NEW THINKING

Through the course of reflecting deeply on why I have the taken the political paths I have chosen, I wish to share and hopefully even inspire others, to support my recently declared candidacy for President of Kenya in the 2012 Elections.

As often said, we are victims of the way we see the world-Indeed a consideration with profound implications if we sit with this thought for sometime. For me, this campaign, REPRESENTS an answer to the DEEP NEED we in KENYA have for a profoundly different SOCIO-ECONOMIC ECONOMIC, understanding of OURSELVES!

Thus, leading to an elevated debate that can address the national economic crisis, lopsided principles of equity currently being practised and perspectives on our presence and participation in regional politics and security.

Often it seems amidst all of our anger, fear and confusion, that we forget the necessity of wisdom and practicality in politics. While mistakes in the past may have been made, it is my hope that we move beyond the need to challenge what we are trying to do in the present-to usher in an enormously different Kenya-the fabric of our society suffers deeply-poverty, war machines, a foreign policy which sits on its hands while Kenyans get murdered, ignoring the need for CREATIVITY AND NEW ENERGY in Solving the problem of declining incomes in families. Shouldn’t ECONOMIC LIBERATION not be the cornerstone of our Domestic Policy?

In order to achieve these things, we must move toward a politics of Equity and Opportunity without which KENYA will merely yield more frustration, anger and a desire for violence.

I am running on the platform that advocates for a courageous shift in fundamental thinking towards a proactive and relevant understanding of how to create more wealth and opportunity, relating to our “others” and pursuing a course of Equity in both word and deed, and ensuring SECURITY is factored as a Key ingredient in policy.

Together, we can build a new Kenya that;
(1) honors economic growth for many, not just a few,
(2) wants its government to be an efficient generator of wealth, and problem solver rather than one that sits on its hands and complaints daily, and
(3) that has enough resolve and equipment to protect its citizens.

I stand for EQUITY, OPPORTUNITY, SECURITY.

With very best wishes, and I am so glad to join the quest of people who also desire a different Kenya.

Cyrus Jirongo, MP, Lugari
Presidential Candidate
